Is this the island that was found not too far from Tonga? I read about a crew on the "Maiken(sp?)" discovering an active volcano forming a new island in the south Pacific. I don't believe the island has a name yet.

I think it's the ozone layer. If so, cool picture of a decending meteor.
Good guesses, but no. It is an island , but not in Hawaii. Keep searching!

It was White Island, off the north coast of New Zeland. Yes, it is an active volcano.
